We are a Church of England church in the Diocese of Ely. Our services follow the Morning Prayer style for three Sundays of the month. We hear readings from the gospel, and a sermon from our minister. We sing hymns, but the psalms are said. We also sing canticles. We are considered ‘high church’ but we are not Anglo-Catholic. We use the traditional wordings of the Lord’s Prayer. On one Sunday a month we have a Holy Communion. This involves receiving the Lord’s Supper, which is blessed wine and bread, representing the blood and body of Christ.

We have a Christmas Carol service every year, sometimes accompanied by the Wicken Coronation Band. We also have a popular Christmas Eve Nativity performance. A service is also held on Christmas Day itself. For more details, look at our services and events page.

St. Laurence hosts Sunday Teas across the warmer months. These are every other Sunday afternoons. When dates are decided, they will be on the Services and Events page.

We have Holy Communion once a month. The body and blood may only be received by confirmed members of the Church of England or associated Christian denominations. You may receive just one of the two. At St. Laurence you can dip the bread in the wine!

If you are not Christian, or do not wish to receive the Communion, you can either remain in the pews or go up and ask for a blessing instead. Please speak to the minister if you are unsure.

Yes, we do marriage, baptisms and funerals at St. Laurence.

Marriage: you do not have to have been baptised to get married in a church. The Church of England also accepts second marriages. Please follow this link for more details: http://www.yourchurchwedding.org
